Arizona is an absolutely beautiful state to explore – and wintertime is no exception! You’ll find vivid landscapes, unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, and diverse habitats and ecosystems wherever you roam. Take a look at a few fantastic camping destinations in Arizona!
Glen Canyon
No, that’s not a typo. We mean Glen Canyon, not Grand Canyon (although you should definitely visit the Grand Canyon, too!). Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is a beautiful spot to explore.
The website offers the following:
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area preserves and protects 1.2 million acres of the Colorado Plateau, a vast landscape of colorful buttes, mesas, canyons, and cliffs. Arid to semi-arid, the region supports a complex and often fragile ecosystem. Plants and wildlife have developed unique adaptations to the hot, arid conditions of their environment and contribute to the rich diversity of life in the area.

Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow Bridge is technically in Utah, but again, not a typo! It’s immediately adjacent to Glen Canyon, so you might as well stop in to check out one of the world’s largest natural bridges – you know, while you’re in the area and all. Learn more here.
Saguaro National Park
Quick, think of a cactus. That iconic shape you just pictured in your mind? Probably a saguaro. It’s the largest cacti in the nation and Saguaro National Park is home to this incredible plant.
The NPS website mentions the following:
Tucson, Arizona is home to the nation’s largest cacti. The giant saguaro is the universal symbol of the American west. These majestic plants, found only in a small portion of the United States, are protected by Saguaro National Park, to the east and west of the modern city of Tucson. Here you have a chance to see these enormous cacti, silhouetted by the beauty of a magnificent desert sunset.
