Arid to semi-arid, the region supports a complex and often fragile ecosystem. Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow Bridge is technically in Utah, but again, not a typo! It’s immediately adjacent to Glen Canyon, so you might as well stop in to check out one of the world’s largest natural bridges – you know, while you’re in the area and all. Learn more here.

Quick, think of a cactus. That iconic shape you just pictured in your mind? Probably a saguaro. It’s the largest cacti in the nation and Saguaro National Park is home to this incredible plant.

These majestic plants, found only in a small portion of the United States, are protected by Saguaro National Park, to the east and west of the modern city of Tucson.
